Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that dental anxiety is a problem that affects millions. For some, it’s a major obstacle that keeps them from scheduling and keeping dental appointments.

One of the ways we help you get rid of dental anxiety at our Chesapeake dental office is by offering nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a slightly sweet-smelling gas that you inhale through a small nasal mask, which is why it’s called inhalation sedation.

Nitrous oxide is mild enough to use with children, and we only use it for the duration of your procedure. When we start the flow of gas, we’ll have you sit back, relax, and breathe normally. In just a few moments, you will begin to feel very relaxed and mildly euphoric, almost like you’re floating. The activity around you recedes into the background, and you may not have much memory of what happened during your appointment.

But you won’t go to sleep, and as soon as we stop the flow of nitrous and have you breathe pure oxygen for a few moments, the effects wear off quickly. You will be able to return to your usual activities feeling alert and refreshed.

At your next appointment, let us know if you are interested, and we’ll be happy to answer your questions about nitrous oxide at our Chesapeake, VA dental office.

We know how upsetting any dental emergency can be, and we want you to get the treatment and relief you need as soon as possible. If you’re not sure you need to be seen on an emergency basis, in Great Bridge, Chesapeake, VA, call our office first at (757) 548-3238.

Our team is trained to listen to your concerns and help determine how soon we need to see you. If you have a severe toothache, we will see you the same day. If your dental emergency is less critical, we'll coordinate an appointment that works for both of our schedules.

In many cases, dental emergencies are obvious; you have a terrible toothache, you broke off a piece of your tooth, or you suffered dental trauma during a soccer game. But we know from experience that dental emergencies come in all shapes and sizes, and we don’t want you to spend an extra moment worrying.

Some of the common dental emergencies we treat are:

  • Toothaches
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Lost dental crowns or fillings
  • Gum infections
  • Dental trauma

We always welcome your calls, and we would rather spend a few minutes chatting with you than have you suffer needlessly.  Please call our office at (757) 548-3238 so we can help you get the treatment you need.
